\nActing FIight Lieutenant James Fraser BARRON, D.F.C., D F.M. (N.Z.401749), Royal New Zealand Air Force, No. 7 Squadron.
\nOne night in February, 1943, this officer was the captain of an aircraft detailed to attack Cologne. When nearing the target area his air\u00adcraft was held in a cone of searchlights and subjected to heavy fire from the ground defences. Despite this, Flight Lieutenant Barron remained on his course, defying an intense and concentrated barrage and pressed home a successful attack on his second run over the target. This officer displayed exceptional gallantry and devotion to duty, setting an example of the highest order.

\nActing Flight Lieutenant Phillip Robert COLDWELL, D.F.M. (137578) Royal Air Force Volunteer Re\u00adserve, No. 7 Squadron.
\nFlight Lieutenant Coldwell has Completed a large number of sorties, many of them to far distant targets in Germany and often against heavy opposi\u00adtion. He is a navigator of exceptional ability and his work, carefully planned and brilliantly executed, has been reflected in the repeated successes obtained. Flight Lieutenant Coldwell is a most valuable member of the squadron and his praiseworthy qualities have set a high standard.

\nActing Squadron Leader John BAKER, D.F.C. (120393), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, No. 405 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron.
\nThis officer has participated in a very large number of sorties, involving attacks on a wide range of well defended enemy targets. He is a fear\u00adless and devoted member of aircraft crew, whose determination to bomb his targets accurately has won him great success. In the air and on the ground his conduct has been exemplary and he has set the finest example of devotion to duty, never sparing himself in his efforts to strike at the enemy at every opportunity.

\nActing Wing Commander James Fraser BARRON, D.S.O., D.F.C., D.F.M. (N.Z.401749), Royal New Zealand Air Force, No. 7 Squadron.
\nOne night in May, 1944, this officer partici\u00adpated in an attack on an airfield at Nantes. By his appreciation of the responsibilities entrusted to him and the skill and precision with which he executed his attack, Wing Commander Barron con\u00adtributed in a large measure to the success achieved. Since being awarded the Distinguished Service Order this officer has taken part in many attacks on dangerous and difficult targets. He is an outstand\u00ading captain whose example of skill, bravery and deterrmnation has impressed all.
