During the operation he pressed home a destructive attack on a 60 foot long river boat. Whilst making a second run over the target in the face of intense anti-aircraft fire his aircraft was repeatedly hit. Severe damage was sustained and the aircraft became difficult to control. Nevertheless, Flight Lieutenant Rippon flew it back to this country and effected a safe landing. This officer has invariably displayed a high degree of skill and tenacity.
